Capt. Robert offers several types of Flats/Backcountry Fishing
Flats/Backcountry Fishing For Snook & Redfish: This is the most popular style of fishing in Southwest Florida. Fishing with live or artificial bait we hunt for fish such as Snook, Redfish and Trout. Usually this type of fishing takes place in the heart of Charlotte Harbor among the 100 square miles of protected mangrove shorelines. This is light tackle fishing at it's best. This type of fishing is offered year round with March thru November being the best time.
Shallow Water Sight Fishing: During the low winter tides in Southwest Florida the flats become alive with cruising Redfish, Trout and Snook. Fish will venture into water less than 12 inches of water in search of food. Redfish will stick half their body out of the water at times as they grub in the grass for baitfish and shrimp. This type of fishing requires lots of patience as you quietly stalk individual fish as you see them. Accurate casting is the key to successful sight fishing and offers a challenge to even the highly experienced angler. Light tackle in the 8-10lb range is a must. This is also a fly-fishing opportunity at it's best. Sight fishing trips are offered December thru March.
